Injectable Fillers in Boise, Idaho
Fillers are basically of two types: Manufactured (off the shelf) and Autologous (your own tissue).
1. Manufactured/ or OFF the shelf.
These are pre made and packaged by companies that manufacture the different types of products. These fillers are classified as short,
medium and long acting in duration.
They have become a more popular procedure in recent years. This is due to the ever increasing number of different types of materials and products,
and the non surgical nature of the procedure. Typically an office visit with or without local anesthesia is all that is required for the injections.
Because there are many new products on the market, and more every year, it is important to consult with your Board Certified plastic surgeon to
learn which type is right for you.
These fillers can be used to treat frown and smile lines, scar and natural depressions, and to add volume for facial rejuvenation. They do not require
a donor site as autologous fat grafting procedures do.
2. Autologous fat grafts; the patients own tissue.
Autologous fat grafting, fat grafts, fat transplantation and micro lipo-injections of fat are all terms that mean the same thing. This procedure involves
removing fat cells from one part of the body, preferably where it is not wanted, and grafted into areas of the face or body where it is wanted or needed.
Typically in the face it is used to fill in laugh lines, sunken cheeks, skin depressions and indentations. It can be used to minimize facial wrinkles,
to enhance the lips with increased volume or to create a better chin or cheek profile.
This procedure is done with blunt small cannulas only, and can be performed under local anesthesia or with sedation and local anesthesia. It also can
be done in combination with any procedure requiring general anesthesia. Depending on the percentage of graft take the results may be permanent or possibly
require another, but smaller, grafting procedure at some time in the future. There is no risk of rejection as with any foreign substance.
The many areas of application of autologous fat grafting (AFT) include the following:
- Stem cell face lifts:
This is a non surgical, no incision, facial rejuvenation technique. It is accomplished by the grafting of autologous fat in to the face. Fat tissue has roughly
one thousand (1,000) times more stem cells than bone marrow and those transplanted stem cells can provide improved skin color, texture, contour and volume.
Not all patients are candidates for the stem cell face lift as the only procedure. However most traditional and nontraditional face lift techniques now utilize
some degree of fact grafting to provide additional volume replacement for aging volume deficiencies.
- Breast Augmentation with autologous fat grafts:
Many patients are excellent to good candidates for breast augmentation without a saline or silicone implant. A consultation is required to determine if this is
the appropriate procedure for the individual.
- Hand rejuvenation:
Grafting fat under the skin of the back of the hand can provide a more youthful appearing hand. This carpet of fat hides the veins and tendons visible under the
thinning skin and produces better skin color and texture.
- Three Dimensional Body Contouring:
By combining fat grafting techniques we have created the next generation of liposuction, abdominoplasty and muscle augmentation procedures. These new techniques
will be routine procedures of choice for enhanced aesthetic results.
